FAQs

What is Craniosacral Therapy?

Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle type of bodywork that can create dramatic improvements in your life. Its very light touch releases restrictions deep in the body to relieve dysfunction and pain thus improving whole body health.

Our nervous system plays a huge role in our physical, emotional, and mental health and few systems in the body have more impact on the central nervous system than the craniosacral system. This consists of the soft tissue and fluid that protect, feed, and detox your brain and spinal cord.

Throughout life, our body absorbs many stresses and strains physically, emotionally and mentally.Over time these can compromise the function of the central nervous system and the performance of nearly every other system in the body.
Craniosacral therapy releases these restrictions to allow the entire body to relax , release and self correct.

Practioners use light touch manual techniques to release any restrictions they find. By assisting the central nervous system to perform at its best, craniosacral therapy eliminates pain and stress and strengthens our resistance to disease.

Craniosacral therapy can be effective for all ages from newborn to elders.

How do you receive information for a reading of any kind?

There are eleven “Clairs”

1. Clairvoyance: clear seeing
2. Clairaudience: clear hearing
3. Clairsentience: clear sensing
4. Clairempathy: clear feeling, to sense what other people feel
5. Claircognizance: clear knowing
6. Clairgustance: clear tasting
7. Clairscent: clear smelling
8. Clairtangency: clear touch, the ability to read energy imprints off of objects
9. Clairtaction: clear contact
10. Claireloquence: clear communication
11. Clairessence: intuitive embodiment

I use about 8 of these. I sit in silence, clear myself and my space and allow the information to flow. Sometimes I hear it, sometimes I see it as symbols, sometimes I know it. I'm an empath and often will feel my clients pain before they arrive for a session.

I believe everyone has the ability to work with and develop their clairs although one or two may be more dominant.

What happens in a session?

A  Craniosacral session takes place in a quiet room.

The client is clothed and typically lying on their back comfortably on a massage table. With very gentle touch, the therapist will listen to and monitor the rhythm of the cerebral spinal fluid which flows around your central nervous system.

Through careful listening of the body, the therapist will find areas of restriction within the bones, tissues, membranes, and organs . She or he can then trace those areas of weakness through the body to the original source of dysfunction. Gentle techniques are then used to release these problem areas and improve the form and function of your central nervous system.

Sessions are generally deeply relaxing, creating feelings of warmth or gentle pulsing in the areas the therapist is working on.

How many sessions will I need?

Everyone and every issue is different. For an acute issue, usually 3 sessions will show great improvement. For chronic pain/disease it often takes a little longer.

Do you ever use a combination of modalities in your sessions?

Yes, I do. Depending on what my clients needs are, I often use craniosacral therapy, visceral manipulation and energy healing in one session.

What’s your opinion on meditating?

My opinion on meditating is that it is an amazing tool for improving health and reducing stress.

I meditate for 30min each morning. I find this a great way to start my day.

I begin with a short grounding exercise, then spend a few minutes thinking about what I have to be grateful for in my life. Then I move into a breath meditation where I focus on only my breath. The traditional name for this meditation is Anapanasati which means mindfullness (sati) of breathing (pana).

This practice works by withdrawing our attention from distracting thoughts and redirecting our attention to the physical sensations of the breath. By doing so we're putting less energy into the emotional states of stress, anxiety, craving, negative thoughts, etc. Over time our thoughts become calmer, more balances and positive. Our experience then becomes more positive. There are many great types of meditation that I've practiced over the years, but this is the one I'm currently using.

Describe your practice in more detail.

The foundation of my work is rooted in the principle of facilitation. My clients are the healers. My role is to be an exceptional listener when connecting with their system in order to assist in their process. The innate wisdom of the body will present both the cause of dysfunction and the treatment plan. My role is to listen and follow. This is soul work.

I work with clients with physical issues that range from concussion, migraines and insomnia to digestive issues or infertility and emotional issues such as depression and anxiety

I’m passionate about my work with Trauma and SomatoEmotional Release. Sessions may include Inner Physician, Inner Child or Higher Self work.

Visionary Craniosacral Healing work combines sensitive hands on bodywork with meditative use of the inner eye and inner ear. Techniques are drawn from 3 principal traditions:

  1. Osteopathy

  2. Energy work

  3. Taoism

A quote from Hugh Milne, Author of The Heart of Listening describes the work beautifully: A supremely gentle approach, it honours both the analytic understanding of how things happen and the intuitive perception of how things really are. Combined, the soul can be touched and real healing can occur.
